Musica cebolla or "onion music" is Chilean slang for the romance ballad, the classic love song. Through video, text and print installation, Blood from My Eyes, Onion Tears plays on this genre's performance of coded gender roles and idyllic romance to reframe the overt sexism and bigotry amplified by the Donald Trump campaign.

By reconstructing Trump’s remarks about Megyn Kelly at the onset of the primaries, that she “had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever," the work presents a telenovela inspired stage pointing to the gross political theatrics of this candidate’s presidential bid. The dramatics of his run, perpetuated by the media, captivated the voting public and propelled this villain-star’s fast rise to political power.
